What is the Nervous System Roadmap?
Every individual comes into parenting with their own challenges and generational patterns to break. Yet, so often those challenges are overlooked in parenting advice.
"The Nervous System Roadmap for Parents" is a 4-part class designed to empower parents with the knowledge of their nervous system and their child's so they can more innately navigate their unique parenting challenges.
By using the nervous system as a roadmap parents can start to understand their own needs and learn to read and reframe their child's behavior. Heavily informed by Dr. Stuart Shanker's Self-Reg® Method, this class will help you break out of stress cycles and find your own flow to parenting.

Week 1
Understanding the Nervous System
In this foundational class, we delve into the core needs of every person: Safety, Connection, and Satisfaction, forming the bedrock of our roadmap. Through an exploration of the science of the nervous system, stress, and co-regulation, you'll gain a fresh perspective on understanding your child's behavior and our reactions. In this lesson, you'll discover:
- How the triune brain and nervous system process stress
- The significance of limbic resonance and stress cycles
- Techniques to transition from escalating tension to co-regulation
Week 2
It's Not Misbehavior, It's Stress Behavior
This course illuminates the concept of stress behavior, revealing the underlying needs behind your child's outbursts and your own reactions. This powerful reframe aids in understanding your own stressors, alleviating frustration and parental guilt, and equips you to co-regulate effectively. In this lesson, you'll explore:
- The 5 domains of stress and their impact
- Uncovering hidden stressors and addressing sensory needs
- Understanding stress cycles and the compounding effect of stressors
Week 3
Setting Boundaries/Repairing Relationships
Connection lies at the heart of all parenting, yet maintaining it amidst daily challenges can be daunting. This class offers insights into maintaining connection while navigating the intricacies of parenting. You'll learn:
- Relationship frameworks for effective parenting
- Strategies to navigate from rupture to repair in parent-child relationships
- Techniques for working with and healing generational patterns
Week 4
Charting a Path of Resilience
In our final class, we'll integrate the tools covered to help you solidify your parenting roadmap, guiding you from surviving to thriving times. You'll gain practical strategies to:
- Replace stress cycles with regulation cycles
- Identify restorative practices for family members and yourself
- Cultivate a growth mentality and resilience within your family

I'm Betsy Lamberson
I am a single mother to an incredible young son (now almost 7 years old) and deeply passionate about supporting parents and caregivers on their journey of conscious parenting. There is a paradox of modern parenting, where so much of the focus is on the child, and the fact that a child's well-being is inextricably linked to their caregiver's is pretty ignored. I am a certified facilitator of Shanker Self-Reg®, which was developed by one of the world’s leading authorities on the science of self-regulation, Dr. Stuart Shanker. Self-Reg® takes some of the most complex science of neuro-biology and polyvagal theory and breaks it down into five fundamental steps that can be executed in real life to help manage the energy and tension of not only our children, but also ourselves.
